Pretending to Grownup: A Casual Card Game Kickstarter

Contributed to the Kickstarter for the card game Pretending to Grownup! Sure when we’re feeling mature we just notice, make a decision, and move on. However!

Have fun annoying the group of people who “worry” about our generation. Because gasp we’re doing things differently than how they did it. That’s really way more of a problem. I prefer my empathy paired with a bit of “Yeah now suck it up and do it.”

Are you technically a grownup but don’t feel like it?

Pretending to Grownup is a casual card game with 100 unique cards featuring common grownup situations. You can face these problems or use the power of your imagination to bend the rules.

Throughout the game you’ll see which player is the most grownup by using the only three resources at a Grownup’s disposal: time, money and energy.

However you can get a Unipegasaurus card which helps you bend the rules of being a grownup by using your imagination. (Uni-pega-saur-us)

All of the artwork is done by Megan McKay of webcomic Doodle for Food. When I discovered this comic I just fell in love with the likeable art style and wanted to base a game around it. When I thought of the Grownup hook, I contacted Megan and the game came together beautifully.

We also have some stretch goal cards being done by some of the absolute best webcomic talent out there. You’ll likely recognize some of the comics below.

Have fun checking out the campaign while I go eat a whole box of cookies.
